"At Woodthorpe we aim to ensure that your children have the best possible education that equips them with the skills, knowledge, qualities and values that will follow them through life.

We also aim to work closely with all members of our community to help children recognise the importance of collaboration and forming positive relationships."

What's happening at Woodthorpe?

2017/18 Star Learners

Our End of Year Star Learners, Quick Maths and Speedy Spelling Champions can be found on our
Star Learners 2016/17 page ...

Year 5 - Just Dancing!

What an exciting end to the year for our year fives!

They have produced and performed an excellent 'Just Dance' video, which was enjoyed by all who attended the Global Garden Party.

See more about the event on our Year 5 Yeargroup page.

School Attendance

I am pleased that the majority of pupils at Woodthorpe have very good attendance records and I would like to thank all those parents who ensure that their children attend school every day.

However, I am concerned that some children have sporadic unauthorised or unexplained absences that have a significant impact on their learning.

It is important that parents aware of what the law says about school attendance. The letter issued to all parents on 2 May 2017 explains more and gives further information about the Education Act 1996.

Storytelling Day

Many thanks to all who supported us during our Woodthorpe Storytelling Day on 31st March.

We have more photos to show you on our Events page ...

As always your children were simply brilliant, performing their own incredible stories, plays and poems.

We'd like to say a special thank you to storyteller Roop Singh and children's author and illustrator, Pippa Pixley, who entertained us with lots of fun stories and activities throughout the day.

Red Nose Day 2017

Red Nose Day was on Friday 24th March 2017.

As usual, we supported this worthwhile cause. Red noses were available to purchase at school and we had a non uniform day where children were invited to contribute £1 towards our fundraising efforts.

We raised an amazing £595 for Red Nose Day.

SEN (Special Educational Needs) Drop In

SEN (Special Educational Needs) Drop In every Wednesday at 9am till 10am.

An opportunity to speak to the SENCo's (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) Lindsey McGrath and Jay Oliver.

Feel free to come along and ask any questions. We look forward to seeing you.

E-safety Guidance & CEOP

Staff at Woodthorpe Community Primary are committed to teaching our pupils about internet safety and being responsible internet users.

As part of the National Crime Agency, CEOP (The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) gives great advice to parents and children about staying safe online.

Victoria Harris is a Trained Ambassador for CEOP and is available to offer advice and help about supporting children in the use of the Internet and staying safe online. Please ask at school reception for more details.

CEOP's dedicated website, Think You Know, allows worries about online activity to be explored and their 'Click CEOP' button can be used to report any concerns you may encounter.
